Fonderie Lorraine

Since 01.01.2017, the joint venture within the VOIT corporate group between ZF Friedrichshafen AG and VOIT Automotive GmbH – the Fonderie Lorraine S.A.S. – has been under the technological leadership of VOIT Automotive.

In the French town of Grosbliederstroff, close to both ZF in Saarbrücken and the VOIT headquarters in St. Ingbert, the automotive supplier with around 400 employees manufactures complex, ready-to-install components in aluminium die casting for engines, transmissions and electric drives.

In 2010, ZF took over the company, which was founded in 1996, from Honsel and invested extensively in order to safeguard availability of significant components for its 8-gear automatic transmission. This merger and the inclusion of VOIT’s core competence of casting technology expertise strengthened the Fonderie Lorraine’s competitive position and now also allow access to further clients.

As a strategic alliance planned for the long term, the jointly managed competence center for transmission and drive components benefits from the development potential, expertise and brand strengths of the two major brands: ZF, one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world and the 2nd and 1st tier supplier VOIT as a specialist supplier, development partner and large-scale manufacturer of highly complex components in aluminium die casting as well as modules and components in stamping, drawing and roll-bending technology.

Fonderie Lorraine forms part of VOIT’s growth strategy and represents a leap in growth for VOIT. It extends the increasingly interesting product portfolio for internal transmission components made of aluminium with virtually no overlap and promises access to the growing markets for hybrid transmissions, electric drives and autonomous driving.
